Obituary

ADA-Services for Winford Clinton Oliver, 93, of Ada, are 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Criswell Funeral Home Chapel, Rev. James Robinson will officiate. Burial will follow at Rosedale Cemetery.

Mr. Oliver died Wednesday, March 26, 2014 in Okmulgee, Oklahoma. He was born April 27, 1920 in Ada, Oklahoma to Clinton Burrell and Pearl Smith Oliver. He graduated from Ada High School and served in the U. S. Navy during World War II.

Mr. Oliver was an Inspector for the Civil Service in White Sands, New Mexico until his retirement. During that time he did highly technical work on the Lunar Landing of 1969 that contributed to the success of that mission. He received an honorary citation for his endeavors on the project. Upon retirement, he moved to Ada.

During his life, he found pleasure in several pursuits, leather carving and design, ceramics, gardening, traveling and visiting family.

Survivors include a son, Gary Clinton Oliver of Newark, California; two grandchildren, Kirk David Oliver and Stephanie Oliver Zanders, both of California, and several great grandchildren; three sisters, Virginia Tyree and husband Jack of Okmulgee, Wanda Murphy of Enid, and Phyllis Burchfiel and husband Bill of Houston, TX; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and brother Clayton Burrell Oliver.
