WINFARD MYERS

ADA-Services for Winfard Walter Myers, 88, Ada, are 2:00 P.M. Wednesday at the Criswell Chapel, Dan Oliver and Harold Holt officiating. Burial follows at Allen Cemetery with Chickasaw Honor Guard performing military honors. The family will receive friends from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. Tuesday at Criswell Funeral Home.

Mr. Myers died on Sunday, June 19, 2011, at his home. He was born April 9, 1923, in Ahloso to Jess and Pearl McGuire Myers. He lived in the Jesse community south of Stonewall, and later moved to Wayne, and attended school in Wayne. He served in the U. S. Army during WWII, and retired from Brockway Glass Company packing department in Oklahoma and California. He retired in 2003 as custodian and Byng School. He attended Bible Baptist Church over 20 years, and loved camping and gardening.

Mr. Myers married Agnes Hamby on March 20, 1942. He later married Wynema Brooks McClendon on April 13, 1988, in Sherman, Texas.

Survivors include his wife, Wynema, of the home; one daughter, Virginia Marie Jenkins, Ripon, California; four sons, Alfred Myers and wife Kathy, Big Oaks Flatt, California; Wilford Myers and wife Sandy, Konawa; Windell Myers and wife Johna, Bowlegs; and John Myers and wife Alma, Golden, Missouri; 10 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren; 1 brother-in-law, J. C. "Jim" Thomas, Oklahoma City; two step children, Regina Crisp, Ada; and Roger McClendon, Ada; 5 step grandchildren and 2 step great grandchildren.

Bearers are Arland Brooks. Roger McClendon, Jon Wilson, Derek Crisp, Gregory Crisp and James Brooks. Honorary bearers are nephews, Arvie Myers, Larry Myers, Danny Myers, and Kenny Myers, and Steve Thomas and Jim Thomas.
