WINDELL ALFRED
ADA-Services for Windell W. "Pops" Alfred, 70, of Ada, are 1:00 p.m. Saturday at the Pleasant Hill Baptist Church, Rev. Famous Cochran will officiate. Burial will follow at Pleasant Hill Cemetery.
Mr. Alfred died Saturday, December 8, 2012 at his home. He was born September 20, 1942 in the Leader Community, near Stonewall, Oklahoma to Henry Simon and Pearl Ella Cochran Alfred. He lived in this area most of his life and attended Leader and Lula schools.
He married Barbara Billy in 1965 at Stonewall. She preceded him in death November 8, 1997. Mr. Alfred was employed with Presbyterian Church in Oklahoma City, Mathis Brothers Furniture Store in Oklahoma City, and retired with the Chickasaw Nation in Ada. He became a member of the Pleasant Hill Baptist Church at an early age.
Survivors include his children, Rhonda Harper and husband Elga of Ada, Windell Ray Alfred and wife Rachel of Ada, and Windella Alfred of Ada; two brothers, Clifford Alfred and wife Virginia of Ada, and Rev. Fred Henry Alfred of Ada; his aunt, Brezilia Johnson of Stonewall; and a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; three infant children; a sister, Alene Alfred; and a brother, Kenneth Ray Alfred.
Bearers will be Brother Stephen Hamilton, Brother, Randall Hamilton, Deacon Eddie Brown Jr., Deacon Jeff Hamilton, Brother, Darren Hamilton, and Brother Darrell Hamilton. Honorary bearers will be Brother, Freddie Cochran Jr., Brother Ray Alexander, Deacon Will Hamilton, Brother Terry Bruner and Brother Kim Billy.
Flower bearers will be Sister Eva Hamilton, Sister Alice Cochran, Sister Vernitta Guiteres, Sister Marvine Hamiton, Sister Fern Pitts, and Sister Marvie Johnson. Honorary flower bearers will be Sister Vester Johnson, Sister Brezilia Alexander, Sister Susie Moore, Sister June Fulsom, Sister Sina Edwards, and Sister Dean Ragsdale.
