ADA-Services for Willie Inez 'Billie' Herring, 93, Ada, are 2 p.m. Wednesday, at Criswell Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. David Fensler will officiate. Burial will follow at Rosedale Cemetery.
Mrs. Herring died Friday, Oct. 9, 2015, at an Ada nursing facility. She was born May 31, 1922, to Willie Henry and Lizzie Frances Baldwin Holley at Wapanucka. She attended Bromide Schools and moved to the Ada area in 1951. Mrs. Herring was employed as a waitress at Hamburger King and Bob's Barbeque. She later owned and operated Broadway Beauty Shop and then was co-owner of Ada Cab Company for 35 years. She was the first female cab driver in Ada. She was then employed as a dispatcher for Call-A-Ride Transportation in Ada. Mrs. Herring was a member of First Pentecostal Holiness Church where she taught an adult Sunday School class.
She and Lloyd Isom were married Oct. 15, 1939. She later married Johnnie Lee Herring Nov. 17, 1957. He died in 1987.
Survivors include her daughter, Judy Brinlee of Ada; her son, Ernie Isom of Coalgate; six grandson, Shane Brinlee and his wife Tina of Allen, Bart Brinlee of Canadian, Clay Brinlee and his wife Morgan of Ada, Travis Isom and his wife Katherine of Norman, Kim Isom of McAlester, and Nathan Isom of Greenville, SC; five granddaughters, Heidi Harkins of Ada, Ladawn Sliger of Lehigh, Lavonia Burns of Ada, Cathy Avalos of Nashville, TN, and Bessie Isom of Ada; one step-grandson, Bob Koscho of Norman; 27 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by three sons, Lloyd Isom Jr., Dewayne Isom and George Isom; two brothers, Arthur Holley and Jack Holley; two sisters, Leona Blood and Lucille Iker; her son-in-law, Ronnie Brinlee; and one great-grandson, Hagen Carlyle Brinlee.
Bearers are her grandsons, Shane Brinlee, Bart Brinlee, Clay Brinlee, Travis Isom, Kim Isom and great-grandson, Cain Brinlee.
