William (Bill) Gum

Visitation for William (Bill) Oscar Gum, 89, of Ada, OK will be held 1:00 – 5:00 p.m. Monday at Criswell Funeral Home. A Graveside service will be 11:00 a.m. Wednesday at the New Hope Cemetery, Long Lane, MO.

Mr. Gum passed away Tuesday, March 17, 2020 at Mercy Hospital, Ardmore, OK after a short illness. He was born April 16, 1930 at Lebanon, MO to William Clay and Lillie May Huff Gum. He attended Lebanon, MO schools.

He married Nona Maxine Gay February 14, 1981 at Lebanon. Mr. Gum had worked for the Missouri Department of Transportation until his retirement. He and his wife moved to this area from Conway, MO in 2005. Mr. Gum was a farmer and affiliated with the Church of Christ. He retired from serving in the U. S. Army. He has been in the Ardmore, Oklahoma Veterans Center Nursing Home for the last two years where he was treated with wonderful care.

Survivors include his wife, Nona Maxine, of the home; daughter, Rebecca Johnson and husband Kenneth, Lebanon, MO; a stepson, Gregory Gay and wife Cassie, Edmond, OK; a step son-in-law, Dean Holt, Stonewall, OK; seven grandchildren; and ten great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his siblings, Mary Lou Burns and Jimmy Gum; his first wife, Betty Jean Gum; his granddaughter, Amy Joe Harms; and a stepdaughter, Vicky Gay Holt.
