REV. JOE HOWRY
ADA-Services for Rev. Joe Howry, 84, Ada, are 10:00 a.m. Friday at the First Baptist Church in Ada, Revs. Joe Dixon, Justin Villines, Tony Peak, Richard Bailey and Seth Johnson will officiate. Burial will follow at Rosedale Cemetery.
Rev. Howry died Tuesday, September 27, 2011 at an Oklahoma City hospital. He was born May 13, 1927 in Earlsboro, Oklahoma to Willie Berry "Jake" and Susie Green Cary Howry. He graduated from McLish High School and East Central University.
He married Joyce Ann McNeill on June 16, 1959 in Fittstown. Rev. Howry was a minister serving at Red Oak, Union Valley, Connerville, Canton, Pauls Valley, Allen and Lovelady Baptist churches. He was also a caseworker for the Department of Human Services Child Welfare Department from 1980 until 1992. Rev. Howry was a member of Lovelady Baptist Church, had volunteered with the Adult Protective Services, a member of the Ministerial Alliance, and the Allen Masonic Lodge. He served in the U. S. Army during the Korean Conflict from 1950 until 1952.
Survivors include his wife, Joyce Howry, of the home; two sons, Coy Howry and his wife Patty of Ada, and Keith Howry and his wife Kelly of Ada; five grandchildren, Daniel Howry, Danna Borntrager and her husband Jonathan, Haley Howry, Kolby Howry, and Kolton Howry, all of Ada; two brothers, Jack Howry and his wife Kathy, Ada, and George Howry, Ada.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Theron Howry and Virdell Howry; and one sister, Thelma Ramsey.
Bearers will be Keith Howry, Coy Howry, Kolby Howry, Kolton Howry, Daniel Howry, and Jonathan Borntrager. Honorary bearers will be Jerry Howard, Bill Snyder, Terry Don Teel, Frank Jared, Ken Hudson, and Caleb Burrows.
