Obituary

DR. BILL NOBLET

Dr. William Chester "Bill" Noblet passed from this
life into our memories on December 26, 2011. He
had suffered a massive brain hemorrhage on
Christmas Eve. Dr. Noblet was born June 7, 1940 in
Fort Smith, Arkansas, to Chester and Wilma
Noblet; he was raised in Spiro, Oklahoma, a town
that always remained dear to his heart. During his
lifetime Bill served the Lord well, loving friends,
neighbors and patients as he did himself; they loved
him in return.

Bill graduated, cum laude, from Oklahoma Baptist
University with a Bachelor of Science degree; in
1961 he was named in "Who's Who Among
Students In American Universities and Colleges".
He then attended the University of Oklahoma
School of Medicine where he received his Doctor of
Medicine Degree. Medical School was followed by
a rotating internship at Baylor University Medical
Center, Dallas, Texas; a residency in internal
medicine at Baylor University Medical Center;
fellowships in medical oncology at Mountain States
Tumor Institute, Boise, Idaho; bone marrow
transplantation at the University of Washington in
Seattle and pediatric oncology at the University of
Colorado, in Denver. From 1975-1982 he held a
teaching appointment as Assistant Clinical
Professor of Medicine, Texas Tech University of
Medicine. And finally, for more than twenty-five years,
until his retirement in the summer of 2011, he served
as the Medical Oncologist at Valley View Regional Hospital
in Ada, Oklahoma.

From 1967-1968, Bill served his country in Vietnam as a
Lieutenant, Medical Corps, U.S. Naval Reserves, earning the
Bronze Star; from 1968-1969 he served at the U.S. Naval Hospital,
Memphis, Tenn., and from 1971-1976 he served as Lieutenant
Commander in the Medical Corps, United States Naval Reserves.
In 1971, he was named in "Outstanding Young Men of America".

Bill loved sports, all sports, but especially Oklahoma University
football. When OU was playing, Bill wore crimson and cream
whether he was at the game or not. For years, Bill and his mother
traveled from their respective homes, meeting in Norman to cheer
on The Sooners.

Bill loved animals, in particular the canine companions he treated
as children and spoiled through the years. A classical pianist, Bill
enjoyed playing along to the howls of his dogs. He served on the
Board of PAWS (The Pontotoc Animal Welfare Society), an
organization he supported wholeheartedly.

He was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his paternal aunt, Irene Noblet
Beasley, Springfield, Missouri; a cousin, Annabelle Benson, and
husband Charles, Springfield, Missouri; his second
cousin/goddaughter, Suzanne Johnson, and husband Sam,
Springfield, Missouri; his "kids," the three Schnauzers, Braly,
Foster and Jigs, as well as extended family and beloved friends
listed below.
