BILL CLARK, SR.
ADA-Services for William Henry "Bill" Clark, Sr., 74, of Ada are 2:00 p.m. Wednesday at the First Baptist Church in Ada, Dr. Pat Kilby will officiate. A private interment will precede the service. The family will receive friends from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. Tuesday at Criswell Funeral Home.
Mr. Clark died Saturday, November 19, 2011 at his home. He was born April 18, 1937 in Ada, Oklahoma to Martin H. and Bessie Lenora Agee Clark. He graduated from Ada High School in 1955 and attended Oklahoma A & M and East Central University.
He married Peggy O'Neal Taylor on March 1, 1996. Mr. Clark moved to Duncan in 1960 and operated the Standard Service Station on Main and Hwy 81. He worked with his family as a Petroleum Distributor at Clark Oil Company in Duncan until 1997 when he moved back to Ada and operated Clark Oil Company in Ada until retiring in 2002. Mr. Clark was an active member of the First Baptist Church in Ada, and had served as a Deacon at the Emanuel Baptist Church of Duncan. Mr. Clark served on numerous church committees at Emanuel Baptist Church in Duncan and the First Baptist Church in Ada.
He was a board member of the Baptist Foundation of Oklahoma for 20 years, a Past President of the Oklahoma Petroleum Marketers Association, founding partner of the Trust Environmental Services and past chairman of the Ada Chamber of Commerce. He served on the Board of Directors of the Ada Jobs Foundation, past president of the Ada Rotary Club and had been a board member of the Empire School District.
Survivors include his wife, Peggy Clark, of the home; two sons, Bill Clark, Jr. and his wife Betty of Ada, and Martin Todd Clark and his wife Shelley of Duncan; his step-children, Sherwood Taylor and his wife Julie of Norman, David Taylor and his wife Julie of Ada, and Donna Sanders and her husband Jim of Ada; four grandchildren; nine step-grandchildren; two great grandchildren; one step-great grandchild; his sister, Linda Whaley and her husband Earl of Centerville, VA; and his mother-in-law, Sammy O'Neal of Ada.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and a sister, Arlene Clark Treas.
Bearers will be Tommy Redman, Pete Williams, Wes Turner; his grandsons, Will Clark, Garrett Clark; and his granddaughters, Jill Clark and Laura Clark. Honorary bearers will be his step-grandchildren, Zac Taylor, Press Taylor, Nick Anderson, Jacob Taylor, Kathryn Taylor, Quincy Taylor, Taylor Anderson, Taylor Eidson and Payton Taylor.
