DOC WHITEN
COLLEYVILLE, TEXAS-Services for Wayne "Doc" Whiten, 81, are 2:00 p.m. Wednesday at the Criswell Funeral Home Chapel, Rev. Bob Langston will officiate. Burial will follow at Rosedale Cemetery. The Chickasaw Nation Honor Guard will conduct military honors at the cemetery.
Mr. Whiten died Saturday, December 1, 2007 at a Grapevine, Texas hospital. He was born May 30, 1926 in Garvin County, Oklahoma to Walter and Clara Freeman Whiten. He moved to this area in the late 1940's when he was discharged from the U. S. Army. He served for four years during World War II. He received the World War II Victory Ribbon, Good Conduct Medal, American Theatre Ribbon, the EAME Theatre Ribbon, two Bronze Service Stars, and the Army of Occupation Ribbon (Germany).
He married Shirley Goodwin in 1975 at Ada, Oklahoma. Mr. Whiten was in sales most of his business career.
Survivors include his wife, Shirley Whiten, of the home; three daughters, Vicki Godwin and husband Tracy, Ada, Jana Williams, Honolulu, Hawaii, and Brenda Miller and husband Mark, Ardmore; a sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Ali and Terry Revell, Colleyville, Texas; seven grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Bearers will be Bobby Johnson, Shane Johnson, Mark Christopher, David Whiten, Clancy Hooe, and Don Thompson.
