Wayne Masoner was born in El Monte, CA. He grew up a playing baseball and football. He was a second baseman and a wide receiver. He graduated from Arroyo High School in 1968. Wayne had many jobs: lineman for the National Forestry Service in California, Part Owner of a Printing Company and eventually when he moved to Ada in 1975, maintenance man Valley View Hospital and for Curwood in Pauls Valley. He worked at Curwood for 28 years.
Wayne met and married Marilyn Meyer in Ada in 1981. They were married for 12 wonderful years. In 1982 they had a son, Joel Masoner. In 1983, they had another son, Mark Masoner. They were members and attended Campground Freewill Baptist Church where Wayne served faithfully as a Deacon for many years. It was not uncommon to see Wayne mow the grass, lead bible study, or even lead singing if it was necessary. He stayed there until the church closed.
He was a member of Community Freewill Baptist Church and Ada First Freewill Baptist Church also where he served in many different positions faithfully.
Wayne loved the ocean, he loved to sun, and he loved unsweet Iced Tea. He loved to fish, to golf, and to travel. It was very normal to find Wayne golfing with Andy Hughes or traveling to all kinds of places with Robin Steele. He loved to watch all California sports teams: Dodgers, Lakers(not Shaq), and the Rams. He loved watching his kids play and eventually his grandkids. Wayne loved to play with his grandkids. It was nothing for Wayne to show up at one of his kids' houses and immediately be swept away by a grandkid for hours. He made every event, graduation, program that any of his 9 grandkids were in.
