Obituary

DR. WANDELLA MCNUTT

ADA-Services for Dr. Wandella McNutt, 74, Ada, are 10:00 a.m. Thursday at the Criswell Chapel, Dr. Pat Kilby officiating. Mick Cowan will be delivering the eulogy. A memorial and burial follows at 2:00 p.m. at Pryor Cemetery in Stuart.

Dr. McNutt died on Monday, September 8, 2008, at her home. She was born February 19, 1934, at Spaulding to Walker and Mae Bernard Lawyer. She graduated from Stuart High School and earned Bachelor's and Master's degrees from East Central University. She earned her Doctorate at Oklahoma University. She retired in February 1996, after serving as Chair of the Business Education Department at East Central University, where she taught for 23 years. She also taught at Oklahoma University, Southwest Baptist College, and high school at Holdenville, Cromwell and Gerty. She was a member of the National Business Education Association where she served as President in 1994 and was named MPBEA Supervisor of the Year in 1989. She was also awarded Oklahoma Outstanding Business Educator in 1988 and received the Teaching Excellence Award at ECU in 1991. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Ada.

She married Garland McNutt on August 30, 1952, in Stuart.

Survivors include her husband, Garland McNutt, of the home; a son, Gary McNutt and wife Dana, Ada; daughter, Kathy McLaughlin and husband Ray, Morris; seven grandchildren, Kerri and Tyson Allard, Tahlequah; Kortni McNutt, Ada; Karis Hagar, Denton, Texas; Tara Denton, Owasso; and Macy McLaughlin, Kristyn McLaughlin and Walker McLaughlin, Morris; and a sister-in-law, Clara Lawyer, Seminole. She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Creston Lawyer.

Bearers are JD McNutt, Tyson Allard, James Maher, Lee Murray, Alan Holloway and Wade Evans. Honorary bearers are Tubby Davis, Sue Jaquess, Shirley Mixon, Pamela Jackson, Joanne Lambert Todd, Mary Ellen Austin, Deonne Crosswaite, Claudette Wilson, and the Abiders Sunday School Class of First Baptist Church, Ada.
