Wanda Privett

Wanda Privett was born in Broken Bow, OK, to Carl and Agnes Smith on November 8, 1932. She graduated from Broken Bow High School and later attended college in Tyler, TX, where she earned a business degree. Wanda was crowned the first “Miss Broken Bow” beauty pageant winner.

After her husband, Johnny Privett, returned home from serving in the Korean War, the couple married in 1955 and shared 52 years of marriage together.

Wanda dedicated 30 years of service to ODOT in Ada and also volunteered for 22 years at Mercy Hospital. She gave her time to AART as a tax aide in Ada and was well known for her love of quilting. As a member of the Busy Hands Quilting Group, Wanda created many beautiful quilts for family and friends. Even after retiring from quilting herself, she continued helping others by quilting for the Cowboy Crisis Fund. She was a longtime member of Trinity Baptist Church.

Wanda is survived by her son, Wayne Privett and wife, Sandra, of Lindsay; daughter, Kathy Pettus, of Ada; grandchildren, Miranda Scott, of Deer Creek, OK, Whitney Ballard and husband, Michael, of Blanchard, Brandon Privett and wife, Crystal, of Ada, Kelli Eastwood and husband, Chris, of Piedmont, OK; and Katie Weaver and husband, Lance, of Ada.
