WALTER STOKES
STIGLER-Services for Walter Price-Stokes, 82, Stigler, formerly of the Ada area are 11:00 a.m. Saturday at the Criswell Funeral Home Chapel, Rev. Robert Brown will officiate assisted by Rev. Don Venable. Burial will follow at Rosedale Cemetery.
Mr. Stokes went to be with the Lord Wednesday, July 27, 2011 at an Oklahoma City hospital. He was born February 9, 1929 at Tulsa, Oklahoma to Walter Price and Gladys Marie Shepard Stokes. He attended Happyland and Tulsa schools.
He married Allene "Toni" Bennett on June 9, 1951. Mr. Stokes co-owned DC Ignition in Ada with his brother, Jim Price. He served in the U. S. Navy from July 1945 until August 1946, during World War II as a "Sea-Be".
Survivors include his wife, Toni Stokes, of the home; two daughters, Eva Schneider and her husband Jerry, Canon City, CO, and Janet Horn and her husband Hubert, Sallisaw, OK; one son, Mike Stokes, Eufaula, OK; five grandchildren, Shane Wood, Shawnee, Cyndi Allen, Canon City, CO, Curtis Wartchow, Wellston, OK, Misti Ray, Ada, and Tara Ray, Roff, OK; 19 great grandchildren; and five sisters, Charlene Northcutt, Norman, Pat Hayes, Ada, Carolyn Taylor, Ada, Armada Deaton, Ada, and Georgia Lancaster, Ada.
He was preceded in death by his son, Bill Stokes on July 30, 2002.
Bearers will be Jim "Pete" Price, Shannon White, Kenny Hayes, Stephen Lancaster, Chad Lancaster, Doug Estes and Thomas Ramsey. Honorary bearers are Tony Winton, John Flowers, Buddy Lewis and Jack Abraham.
