Wade
Teel
January 20, 1954 – November 5, 2022
On November 5, 2022, Wade Teel passed away in Shawnee, Oklahoma at Cornerstone Hospital at the age of 68 after a courageous battle with Crohn's disease, diabetes, pneumonia and other illnesses. He took his last breath holding his daughter's hand being told he was loved and not alone.
Wade is survived by his mother, Jaunita Teel of Ada, Oklahoma; his wife Janie Teel of Ada, Oklahoma; his daughter Leah Lucio and son-in-law Richard Lucio of Mansfield, Texas; his three grandchildren Marena and husband Curtis Updegraff of Arlington, Texas, Ryan and wife Jade Burrows of Yokosuka Navy Base, Japan, and Isabella Lucio of Lubbock, Texas; his three great-grandsons Liam and Curtis Gavin of Arlington, Texas, and Atticus of Yokosuka Navy Base, Japan; his step-daughter Abbey Matthews and step-grandson Joey; by his sisters Pam Kirk of Konawa, Oklahoma, Susan and husband Jack Kelly of Sulphur, Oklahoma and Gina Teel of Ada, Oklahoma and by his numerous nieces and nephews. Wade was welcomed into Heaven by his father, Gene Teel and his sister Patricia Jones.
Wade was born in Ada, Oklahoma to Gene and Jaunita Teel. He attended school in Roff, Oklahoma and was the only boy in a family of four girls. Wade was an exceptionally bright and inquisitive child. He had a photographic memory and knew something about almost everything. He held a wide variety of jobs over his lifetime, a diesel mechanic, a Methodist Pastor and most recently retired from the Chickasaw Nation Commerce Department. He loved watching westerns, spending time in his shop working with his hands and spending time with his faithful companion, his dog J.J. Wade was a man of faith, honor and integrity. His intelligence and wit will be greatly missed.
Wade spent the majority of the past six months hospitalized at Chickasaw Nation Medical Center. He was grateful for the amazing care he received from Dr. Tina Cooper, his primary care doctor; Cherri Walsh, his devoted niece who stayed with him until the end, and the entire medical staff in Acute Care 1 and 3. The care and compassion of everyone at Chickasaw Nation Medical Center made Wade's medical battles a little easier and gave his family more time with him.
No memorial service or funeral is planned at this time. The family asks that you honor Wade in a personal way by spending time with your loved ones.
"LORD remind me how brief my time on earth will be. Remind me that my days are numbered— how fleeting my life is. You have made my life no longer than the width of my hand. My entire lifetime is just a moment to You; at best, each of us is but a breath. We are merely moving shadows, and all our busy rushing ends in nothing. We heap up wealth, not knowing who will spend it. And so, Lord, where do I put my hope? My only hope is in You." – Psalm 39.4-7
