VIVIAN BLAKE
ADA-Graveside services for Vivian D. Blake, 98, of Ada are 2:00 p.m. Friday at Memorial Park Cemetery, Rev. David Daniel will officiate.
Mrs. Blake died Tuesday, March 13, 2012 at a local hospital. She was born August 3, 1913 in Hebron, Indiana to Harry Earl and Mabel Fry Diddie. Her family later moved to Waukomis, Oklahoma where she graduated from high school. Due to her mother's illness, Vivian's family moved to Tempe, AZ where she attended a year of college at Arizona State University. After her mother died, she returned to Oklahoma with her family where her father opened grocery stores. In 1935, Vivian moved to Ada to manage one of the grocery stores and lived here ever since.
She married Quinton Young Blake on January 4, 1936 and went on to own a dress shop in Ada and later worked in two other ladies' fashion businesses. Vivian was a longtime member of the First United Methodist Church. She was a member of the Tanti Study Club, played dominoes and was an avid bridge player.
Survivors include a daughter-in-law, Martha Blake of Arlington, TX; granddaughters, Jana Chapline, Mansfield, TX and Evan Barrett, Atlanta, GA; grandsons, Brett Blake, Wichita Falls, TX, and Jeff Blake, Noble, OK; six great grandchildren; two nieces; and one nephew.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Quinton; a son, Roy Blake; her brother, Jack Diddie; and her sisters, Harriett Dowell and Evelyn Isbell.
