VIRGINIA ASHFORD

FRANCIS-Services for Virginia Drennan Ashford, 85, Francis, are 10:00 a.m. Monday at the Wayne Church of Christ, Troy Yandell will officiate. Burial will follow at 2:00 p.m. Monday at Gracelawn Cemetery in Edmond.

Mrs. Ashford died Thursday, March 6, 2008 at an Oklahoma City hospice. She was born November 18, 1922 at Francis, Oklahoma to Thomas A. and Emma L. Shores Green.

She married Donald Earl Drennan on February 4, 1939 at Capitol Hill in Oklahoma City. He died September 11, 1977 in Edmond. She later married Arnold Jack Ashford on November 10, 1983. He died June 18, 1991 in Ada. Mrs. Ashford was a manager of the cafeteria in the girls dormitory at Central State College from 1955 until 1979, now University of Central Oklahoma. She was a member of the Church of Christ.

Survivors include a daughter, Carol A. Yandell, Wayne; three granddaughters, Cheri Cowell, Wichita, KS, Ginny Farris, Arizona, and Karla Denney, Sand Springs; three grandsons, Steve Givens, Pawnee, Bruce A. Yandell, Ada, and Neal R. Givens, Stillwater; fourteen great grandchildren; and four great great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, two daughters, Thenia Newby and Neal Kennemer.

Bearers will be Bruce Yandell, Steve Givens, Neal Givens, James Denney, Damon Christopher, and Rory Christopher.
