VIRGIL SCARBERRY
HOUSTON, TEXAS-Services for Virgil Junior Scarberry, 85, Houston, formerly of Ada are 10:30 a.m. Monday at the Southwest Church of Christ, Floyd Kaiser will officiate. Burial will follow at Swan Hill Cemetery. The Tinker Air Force Base Honor Guard will conduct military honors at the cemetery.
Mr. Scarberry died Wednesday, May 11, 2011 in Houston, Texas. He was born February 26, 1926 in the Egypt Community, west of Ada, Oklahoma to Virgil Walter and Bessie Viola Wade Scarberry. He attended Vanoss grade school and Vanoss High School and Horace Mann High School in Ada. He also attended East Central State College.
He married Frances June Bennett on November 22, 1952 in Ada. Mr. Scarberry served for 20 years in the U. S. Air Force as a jet Engine Propulsion Specialist; 16 years as an Auto Collision Repair Instructor; and 4 years as an Insurance Claims Adjustor. He was a paint and body repairman for 60 years. He was affiliated with the Church of Christ, a member of the Masonic Lodge for 36 years from 1975 to present, a square dance caller and a member of several square dance clubs over the years.
Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Frances June Scarberry, of the home; a daughter, Susan Shelton and her husband Mark of Little Elm, TX; a son, Robert Scarberry and his wife Jannie of Houston, TX; and a son, Kenneth Scarberry; his grandchildren, Cathryn Shelton and husband Marcus; Justin Alleson; Julia Alleson; Jennifer Espinosa; Joseph Hayes and wife Nyssa; Stacey Flowers and husband Stephen; Robert "Austin" Scarberry and wife Nicole; and Tyler Scarberry; his great grandchildren, Danielle and Emma Jenkins; Caden and Lane Shelton; Serenity Alleson; Brayden and Baylee Espinosa; Kennedy and Owen Flowers; and Jade Scarberry.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Virgil and Bessie Scarberry; sisters, Dorothy Fox and husband Kenneth, Dinzel Powers and Christine Brown and husband Kenny; brother, Elvin Scarberry and wife Rachel; and a grandson, Christopher Hubbard.
Bearers will be his two sons, Robert G. Scarberry and Kenneth Scarberry; two grandsons, Robert A. Scarberry and Justin Allison; and friends, Rick Parr and Wayne King.
