LAVOID MEEK
ADA-Services for Virgil Lavoid Meek, 75, Ada are 10:00 a.m. Thursday at the Criswell Funeral Home Chapel, Rev. Dan McGehee will officiate. Burial will follow at Maxwell Cemetery.
Mr. Meek died Sunday, March 13, 2011 at an Ada nursing home. He was born September 25, 1935 in Ada, Oklahoma to Virgil Eugene and Lois Marie Crow Meek. He graduated from Vanoss High School in 1952 and received an Associate's Degree in Criminal Justice in 1976 from Seminole Junior College.
He married Delores Ann Pittman on December 21, 1957. He later married Laura Jean Long on September, 1997. Mr. Meek retired from Brockway Glass Company and later retired from the Maintenance Department at East Central University. He was a Master Mason and had served in the U. S. Army with the 101st Airborne Division.
Survivors include his wife, Laura Jean Meek, of the home; two daughters, Stacy Hopper and her husband Freddy, Ada and Debbie Allen and her husband Johnny, Ardmore; three sons, Steve Meek and his wife Claudia, Sulphur, Derrell Meek and his wife Cheryl, Ada, and Mike Meek and his wife Paula, Holdenville; 11 grandchildren, Tiffany Hopper, Taylor Hopper and wife Emily, Jesse Meek, Justin Meek, Tanner Meek and wife Julie, Tagus Meek, Jamie Allen Chavers and husband Andrew, Brandon Allen, Cody Meek, Kasey Meek and Emily Meek; three great grandchildren, Bennett Rhodes, Willow Hopper and Tucker Meek; two sisters, Jolene Bartmess and Berlene Morris; six step-children; and several step-grandchildren.
Grandchildren and their spouses will serve as bearers.
