VIOLET MCBROOM

ADA-Graveside services for Violet M. McBroom, 95, Ada, are 11:00 a.m. Thursday at Memorial Park Cemetery, Rev. Jimmy Keith will officiate. Family and friends may call from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Wednesday at Criswell Funeral Home.

Mrs. McBroom died Tuesday, February 10, 2009 at a local hospital. She was born June 26, 1913 at Pryor, Oklahoma to Dean and Lillie Bourland Smith.

She married Rev. M. C. McBroom on August 15, 1958 in Shawnee, Oklahoma. He preceded her in death on April 28, 1994. Mrs. McBroom was a homemaker. She was a member of the Pentecostal Holiness Church where she had joined when she was 12 years old. On April 10, 1988, she was presented an award of appreciation for the 42 years of service in children's church and child evangelism.

Survivors include a stepdaughter, Wilma Cox, Oklahoma City; eight grandchildren; eleven great grandchildren; two great great grandchildren; a cousin, Helen Weir, Ft. Smith, AR; and many close friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a stepdaughter, Geneva Moore, and a stepson, Jimmy McBroom.

Bearers are Harry Tunnell, John Hoover, Donald Scott, and Charles Sutton. Honorary bearers are A. B. Scott and Alfred Murr.
