VIOLA WHELCHEL
ADA-Services for Viola Mae Whelchel, 90, Ada, are 2:00 p.m. Wednesday at the Criswell Chapel, Rev. Joe Howry officiating. Burial follows at Pontotoc Cemetery, Pontotoc, Oklahoma.
Mrs. Whelchel died on Monday, December 1, 2008, at a local nursing home. She was born April 23, 1918, in Lewisville, Texas, to Mack and Mae Shaw Peppers.
She married Earl Whelchel on July 5, 1933. He preceded her in death on June 19, 1999.
Survivors include 3 sons, Joe Whelchel and wife Linda, Ada; Bill Whelchel and wife Imogene, Connerville; and Gene Whelchel and wife Vicki, Ada; a daughter, Pearlie Timmons, Oklahoma City; 10 grandchildren, Donna Melton, Cindy Nanney, Tommy Smith, Dawn Tadlock, Tony Whelchel and Amy Whelchel and their mother Elaine Whelchel, Anthony Whelchel, Sherri Billings, Len Timmons and David Timmons, and many great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Ethel Burden; a grandson, Dennis Lynn Smith, and granddaughter, Kaye Lynn Pierce.
Grandsons will serve as bearers.
