V. O. MAGAR
ADA-Services for Vernon Owen Magar, 97, of Ada, are 2:00 p.m. Thursday at the Ahloso Baptist Church, Rev. Dan Cusher will officiate. Burial will follow at the McGee Cemetery in Stratford. The Chickasaw Honor Guard will conduct military honors at the cemetery.
Mr. Magar died Tuesday, October 28, 2014 at the Veteran's Hospital in Oklahoma City. He was born January 22, 1917 in Maxwell, Oklahoma to Jim and Grace Palmer Magar. He attended Maxwell schools.
He married Clara Lee Flowers. She preceded him in death on March 18, 1996. Mr. Magar was a Postal Employee in Ada until his retirement. He served the Postal Service for 20 years. Mr. Magar served in the U. S. Army during World War II.
Survivors include his son, Bobby Magar and wife Judy of Ada; two sisters, Ruth Tucker of Ada and Dorothy Lovin of Konawa; a brother, Ray Magar of Ada; five grandchildren, Barbara Magar, Miranda Magar, Frank Pursiville, Richard Pursiville and Vivian Randell; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Tommie Sue Pursiville; and a son, Jimmy Magar.
Bearers will be Jack Wells, Randy Miller, Richard Pursiville, Frank Pursiville, Chris Pursiville and Daniel Pursiville.
