VERNON LAXTON
ADA-Services for Vernon Leroy Laxton, 78, of Ada, are 11:00 a.m. Saturday at Trinity Baptist Church, Rev. Richard Bailey and Paul Brashears will officiate. Burial will follow at Rosedale Cemetery.
Mr. Laxton died Wednesday, May 23, 2012 at his home. He was born February 11, 1934 at Ada, Oklahoma to Oather "Pud" and Viola Stevens Laxton. He graduated from Latta High School and attended East Central University for three years.
He married Ruby Inez Horton on May 28, 1952. She preceded him in death on March 25, 2006 in Ada. He later married Della Rose Dobbins Maddox on June 21, 2008. Mr. Laxton was employed with Brockway Glass Company in Ada as a mould maker in the mould shop and later at the Henryetta Plant for 6 ½ years. Mr. Laxton was also a farmer and rancher. He was a member of the Union Hill Baptist Church and an honorary member of Pi Kappa Alpha Fraternity.
Survivors include his wife, Della Laxton, of the home; a son, Vernon "Leroy" Laxton, Jr., Pauls Valley; a daughter, Linda Benware and her husband Jim of Granbury, TX; his grandchildren, Dusty Sanders, Lewisville, TX, Brandon Laxton and wife Lisa, Ada, Christy Bright and husband Bubba, Granbury, TX, Lindsey Laxton, Pauls Valley, Bailey Stufflebean and fiancé, Chaz Pyle, Pauls Valley, Cody Benware, Weatherford, TX, and Sierra Laxton, Pauls Valley; five great grandchildren, Kaitlyn Laxton, Hunter Bright, Ethan Laxton, Jordan Stufflebean, and Shelby Bright; four sisters, Lolita Sanders, Ada, Ginger McAlister, Ada, Sue Alexander and husband Curtis, Glenrose, TX, and Faye Mullins and husband Jackie, Ada; his step-daughter, Jeanne Curtis and husband Woody, Stratford; four step-grandchildren, Kali Brown and husband Tim, Lyndi Thomas and husband Todd, and Kendal Curtis, all of Ada, and Rosalee Curtis, Stratford; five step-great-grandchildren, Hailee Brown, Rowdy Thomas, Pake Thomas, Chance Brown and Katie Thomas; and an honorary granddaughter, Tiffany Logsdon and husband Trey of Ada.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Tammy Laxton.
Bearers will be Lanny Eaves, Luke Neely, Glen Walker, Austin Rogers, Ed Coffey, Gary King, and Pike Fraternity members-Dakota Hector, Robby Wilmot, Jody Murray, Eric "Ebo" Bolin, Michael Graham and Brandon Laxton.
