VERLIE FLOWERS
MOORE, OK-Services for Verlie Gladys Flowers, 89, of Moore, formerly of the Lovelady, Black Rock and Owl Creek Communities, near Ada, are 2:00 p.m. Wednesday at the Faith Assembly of God Church in Ada. Dr. Ben Husted will officiate. Burial will follow at Rosedale Cemetery in Ada.
Mrs. Flowers passed Sunday, December 15, 2013. She was born May 12, 1924 in Ada, Oklahoma to Robert Andrew and Sarah Roshie Roberts Sliger. She attended Black Rock School.
She married Virgil Dick Flowers on September 16, 1941 in Ada. He preceded her in death on June 20, 2006. Mrs. Flowers was a homemaker and previously attended the Assembly of God Church.
Survivors include two sons, James Flowers and wife Carlis of Okemah and Harold Flowers and wife Martha of Trenton, FL; a daughter, Roshea Flowers-Schultz and husband Andy of Moore; 9 grandchildren; 21 great grandchildren; 7 great great grandchildren; four brothers, J. B. Sliger, Byng, Willard Sliger and wife Iva Lois, Owl Creek, Robert Sliger and wife Violet, Ada, and Royce Sliger and wife Joice, Owl Creek; three sisters, Edith Flowers, Owl Creek, Jane York Hatfield, Ada, and June McCauley, Ft. Worth, TX; and other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Arlie Joe Flowers; granddaughter, Carla Reneé Flowers; and four sisters, Alvilda Sliger, Marie Nickell, Vera Deaton and Avana Hobbs.
Bearers will be James Flowers III, James Curtis Flowers, Bruce Riggin, Brenton Riggin, Ranon Riggin and Shay Schultz.
