VERA DEATON

ADA-Services for Vera B. Deaton, 89, Ada, are 10:00 a.m. Wednesday at the Criswell Chapel, Dr. Ben Husted officiating. Burial follows at Memorial Park Cemetery.

Mrs. Deaton died on Sunday, September 2, 2007, at a local hospital. She was born March 30, 1918, at Putnam County, Tennessee, to Robert Andrew and Sarah Roshie Roberts Sliger. She moved with her family to the Lovelady area in 1920 from Tennessee. She attended Byng School and LPN School. She retired from Valley View Hospital after 15 years employment. She attended the Church of God of Prophecy.

She married Olen Deaton on November 29, 1934. He preceded her in death on June 3, 1996.

Survivors include a daughter, Joyce Walters, Ada; four sons, O. C. Deaton and his wife Sue, Morris, Oklahoma; Jim Deaton, Long Beach, California; Doug Deaton and wife Beverly, Ada; and Ron Deaton, Ada; five grandchildren, Sheila Walters, Oklahoma City; Dana McNutt and her husband Gary, Ada; Jeff Deaton, Midwest City; Sheena Deaton, Louisiana; and Jason Deaton and his wife Ginny, Wapanucka; five great grandchildren, Kerri Allard and her husband Tyson; Anthony Deaton; Kortni McNutt; Presley Deaton; and Bo Hunter Deaton; four brothers, J. B. Sliger, Byng; Willard Sliger, Owl Creek; Robert Sliger, Ada; and Royce Sliger, Stonewall; and five sisters, Avana Hobbs, Ada; Verlie Flowers, Moore; Edith Flowers, Stonewall; Jane Hatfield, Ada; and June McCauley, Ft. Worth, Texas. She was preceded in death by her parents, a son-in-law, Bill Walters, and 2 sisters, Marie Nickell and Alvelda Sliger.

Bearers are grandsons, Jeff Deaton and Jason Deaton; nephews, Glen Hobbs, Hal Sliger and James Flowers; and Neal Hobbs.
