DEENE SHERBERT HEDRICK
ADA-Services for Deene Sherbert Hedrick, 89, Ada, are 10:00 a.m. Friday at the Central Church of Christ, Bill Nelson will officiate. Burial will follow at Rosedale Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Thursday at Criswell Funeral Home.
Mrs. Hedrick died Tuesday, December 20, 2011 at a local nursing home. She was born October 23, 1922 in Howe, Oklahoma to James and Carrie Hass Canoy. She and her family moved to the Ada area in 1932 from Eufaula, Oklahoma. She attended Willard grade school and graduated from Ada High School. She received a Master's in Education from East Central University.
She married Bill Sherbert on February 8, 1942. He preceded her in death on March 27, 1967. She later married Gale Hedrick on August14, 1976. He preceded her in death on April 15, 1992. Mrs. Hedrick was an English and Spanish Teacher at Ada High School until her retirement. She was a member of Central Church of Christ, a member of the Oklahoma Education Association, Delta Sigma Pi, and the Pontotoc County Retired Teachers Association.
Survivors include three sons, Bob Sherbert and his wife Connie of Houston, TX, Joe Sherbert and his wife Candy, and David Sherbert and his wife Marsha, both of Ada; one brother, Michael Canoy and his wife Kirsten of Belize; six grandchildren, Stephen Sherbert, Seattle, WA, Jill Sherbert, Austin, TX, Abby Cantrell, Ada, Jennifer Morris, Ada, Daniel Sherbert, Kuwait, and John Sherbert, Ada; and five great grandchildren
Bearers will be John Sherbert, Jake Cantrell, Zane Morris, Ronnie Brendle, Bill Adams and Larry Scott.
