VELMA "MART" DYER
ADA-Services for Velma M. "Mart" Dyer, 93, of Ada, are 2:00 p.m. Thursday at the Criswell Funeral Home Chapel, Rev. Steve Wilburn will officiate. Burial will follow at Rosedale Cemetery.
Mrs. Dyer died Sunday, December 15, 2013 at a local nursing home. She was born October 18, 1920 at Chickasha, Oklahoma to Oscar Lee and Zelpha Aby Kemp Harris. She attended Friend school east of Chickasha.
She married Frank Dyer in 1938. He preceded her in death on September 15, 1967. She and her husband moved to a farm south of Ada in 1938. Mrs. Dyer was a sales clerk for Gem Jewelers and The Diamond Shop and also a homemaker. She was a member of the Mother's Sunday School Class and the First Baptist Church of Fitzhugh.
Survivors include two sons, Jerry Dyer and wife Charlotte of Ada, and Donald Joe Dyer and wife Nancy of Jamestown, NC; four grandchildren, Debbie Tucker and husband Randy of Blanchard, David Dyer of Clinton, Kathleen Dyer of McLeanville, NC, and Darren Dyer of Highpoint, NC; three great grandchildren, Cody Tucker, and Joseph and Hannah Dyer; two special nieces, Peggy Brown of Magnolia, TX and Sherry Pruitt of Houston, TX; and a special nephew, Arnold Harris of Paducah, KY.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; two sisters, Jewel Bartlett and Ileta Doss and a brother, Lee Harris.
Family members will serve as bearers.
