VELMA DUNCAN

ADA-Services for Velma Lorene Duncan, 88, Ada, are 1:00 P.M. Friday at Connerville Baptist Church, Rev. David Browning officiating. Burial follows at Connerville Cemetery in Connerville, Oklahoma. The family will receive friends from 6:00 – 8:00 P.M. Thursday evening at Criswell Funeral Home.

Mrs. Duncan died on Sunday, August 29, 2010 at her home. She was born March 19, 1922, in Byng to Martin and Ethel Sellers Hobbs. She attended school at Pleasant Hill and Ahloso. She married Ervin Duncan on January 15, 1940, and was a homemaker and prided herself in dressing her 3 little girls in the cutest homemade dresses. After moving to the Ada area in 1959 she worked at the Blue Bell Jean Company in Ada. She and her husband moved to Moore, Oklahoma in 1964 when Ervin was transferred with Thomas Concrete Products. They lived there until Ervin retired in 1982 and then moved back to the Ada area, living in Connerville where she was once again a homemaker. NaNa we will miss you and your homemade cookies and dumplings.

Survivors include three daughters, Barbara Williams and husband Bob, Ada; Carol Hawkins and husband Jim, Lake Kiowa, Texas; and Martha Southard and husband Tom, Oklahoma City; a sister, Nadine Adams, Battle Mountain, Nevada; grandchildren, Vicki and Ronnie Scott, Ada; Laura and Billy Steele, Stonewall; Bob and Dianna Williams, Stonewall; Eddie Hawkins, Lake Kiowa, Texas; Tony and Dana Hawkins, Whitesboro, Texas; Tracey and Trent Kiesau, Tulsa; Brandon and Jamie Pope, Moore; and Lee and Sarah Southard, Moore; great grandchildren and great great grandchildren, Michael and Ashley Miller, Bayleigh, Zack and Jett, Noble; Sarah Maloy, Jaeden, Paige and Tanner, Ada; J. P. Maples, Tonkawa; Stephanie Scott, Harlee and Chance, Marlow; Meagan and Wade Doyle and Chad Whittington, McAlester; Brecca Robertson, Stonewall; Addyson Steele, Stonewall; Josh Steele, Stonewall; Abranda and Mark Masoner and Braelyn, Ada; Bryan and Tonya Pogue, Taegus Pogue, and Jake Williams, Stonewall; Victoria Hawkins, Lake Kiowa, Texas; Stoney, Brock and Sissy Hawkins, Whitesboro, Texas; Rachel and Ryan Kiesau, Tulsa; Kyler, Payton and Gage St. Cyr, Destin, Florida; and Canon Southard, Moore; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ervin Duncan, on February 16, 2010.
