Private Memorial services for Van Ray Reed, 77, of Ada will be held at a later date.
Mr. Reed passed away Saturday, October 3, 2020 at his home. He was born May 11, 1943 at Okemah, OK to Willie Raymond and Nova Irene Groves Reed. He was a lifelong resident of this area, having attended Center Grade School and graduating from Vanoss High School in 1961. He also attended East Central University.
He married Doris Jean Chambers November 11, 1988. Mr. Reed had worked as a Ranch Manager and a Dairyman most of his life. He was a member of Fitzhugh Baptist Church. Van loved his children and grandchildren and enjoyed watching his grandchildren play sports. Van was a talented craftsman. He loved being in his workshop, making knives, carving caricatures and showing the grandchildren his projects.
Survivors include his wife, Doris, of the home; his children, Van Reed, Jr., Ada, Rindy Brassfield, Ada, Tyler Reed and wife Heather, Ada and B. J. Anglin and wife Misty, Middleburg, OK; eight grandchildren, Desten, Brinn, Chelsey, Andrew, Racen, Riley, Cache and Briar; one great-granddaughter, Katie; his brothers, Tommy Cochran and wife Sherel, Spring Hill, TN, Jimmy Taylor, Waco, TX, Chris Files, Tulsa, and Arbin "Abby" Files, Tulsa; a sister, Rilla Webb, Ada; nephew, Danny Morris and wife Karynn, Davis; and other nieces, nephews, relatives and many friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Don Taylor, Robert Cochran, Gerald Taylor, Glenn Taylor and Buddy Taylor; and his sisters, Francis May Taylor, Anita Kay Folk, Helen Wells and Betty Magar.
