Turk Barrett

Services for Jerry Gene "Turk" Barrett, 82, of Ada are 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, October 2, 2024 at the Fittstown Baptist Church, Rev. Reno Dye will officiate. Burial will follow at Pontotoc Cemetery.

Mr. Barrett passed away Friday, September 27, 2024 at an Oklahoma City hospital. He was born January 19, 1942 in Pontotoc, Oklahoma to Berk and Zelda Harden Barrett. He graduated from Pontotoc High School and had served in the U. S. Army.

He married Shirley Davis May 28, 1966. Mr. Barrett worked as a field appraiser for the Pontotoc County Assessor's office until his retirement.

Survivors include his wife, Shirley, of the home; two daughters, Leslie Singleton and husband Scott and Sherri Duty and husband Ladd; two brothers, Donald Barrett and Michael Barrett; three sisters, Bobbie Hayes, Reta Gunn and Judy Peoples; and two grandchildren, Chance Duty and Tegan Singleton.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and several brothers and sisters.

Bearers will be Lee Jackson, Bobby Niblett, Val Smith, Buddy Johnson, Butch Harris and Stanley Graham. Honorary bearers will be James Lackey and Marvin Mitchell.
