Trovall L. Pipkin
Services for Trovall Lewis Pipkin, 80, Ada, OK are being held 2pm Monday, January 20, 2014 at First Baptist Church, Ada, Dr. Pat Kilby, Rev. Harold Ware and Rev. Jerry Wells officiating. Burial will follow at Ada Memorial Cemetery. The family is receiving friends from 7-8:30pm Sunday at Criswell Funeral Home, Ada.
Mr. Pipkin died Wednesday, January 15, 2014 in Ada. He was born January 3, 1934 in Prairie Grove, OK at home to Albert Garner and Gracia Pearl Pipkin.
He and his family resided between Ada and Allen as his parents taught in a one-room school, McCall's Chapel. He attended his first two years of schooling at Rhody, OK, then at McCall's Chapel, for six years prior to moving into Allen schools for the remainder of his grades. Mr. Pipkin graduated from Allen High School in 1951. Mr. Pipkin attended East Central University for three years prior to voluntary draft into the United States Army for two years, stationed at Fort Bliss, TX.
He married Billye Ann Cozad on December 20, 1954, in Allen, OK.
Mr. Pipkin began his career in the oil field patch with Sunray DX in May of 1956, outside of Tulsa, OK, working throughout Oklahoma until March of 1970. At that time he and his family transferred with Sun Oil Company to Ventura, CA, where he was Production Superintendent for Sun Oil offshore drilling in the Santa Barbara Chanel – Platforms Hillhouse and Henry. Mr. Pipkin ran a private oil field business with partner Phillip Sparling, from 1976-1977 in Cushing, OK. Mr. Pipkin returned to offshore Houston in 1977 for Sun Oil as Production Superintendent. He and his family then transferred back to Southern California in November of 1982 with Sun Oil Company and retired after 33 years of service on February 1, 1989.
Trovall Pipkin is survived by his wife of 59 years, Billye Ann Pipkin, of the home; one daughter and son-in-law, Diana and Keith Harriman of Marathon, FL; one son, Randall Gene Pipkin of Ventura, CA; a brother and sister-in-law, Hubert and Janice Pipkin of Sayre, OK; three grandchildren, Sean Wyatt, FL; Andrea Wyatt, CA; Chad Pipkin, OK; four great-grandchildren, Ariel and Vanessa Wyatt, FL, and Beau Mason Wyatt and Anthony Elbeck Wyatt, CA. He has also left behind many cousins, nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Billy Gene Pipkin and Jimmy Lee Pipkin.
Bearers are Steve Pipkin, Chad Pipkin, Sean Wyatt, Johnny Cozad, Josh Allen and Jody Allen Jr.
Honorary Bearers are Bob Simmons, Bill Taylor, Charles Jones, J.E. Jones, Bob Triplett, James Arnold, Max Hibbard, Ken Turner, Pete Mason, Bo Newbury and Elton Clark.
