Toni Jo McCarthick was born February 13, 1947 at Bullard Chapel, just outside of Tishomingo, OK to Harold and Mary (Kite) McCarthick.

 Toni graduated from Tishomingo High School, class of 1965. As she desired to continue to learn, she enrolled and graduated from East Central University in Ada, OK with a BS degree in Medical Technology, all while commuting home every weekend to milk cows at the family dairy. This is just one example of Toni’s commitment of hard work and determination.

 Upon graduating from East Central, Toni was employed at Valley View Regional Hospital, now known as Mercy, in the Hematology Department, working her way up to lab supervisor. During her 35+ year tenure, she taught numerous lab students in her area of expertise. She was a resource for physicians as well as other healthcare teams to help diagnose and treat patients with the best care possible. In typical Toni fashion, she graciously opened her home to any of her students who needed a place to live. Another accomplishment, while at VVRH, Toni was selected to travel to Abu Dhabi, UAE for a stint to facilitate their new lab. 

Toni departed her earthly life on October 12, 2026 at the age of 79, surrounded by the love of her family Toni was quoted as saying, “I am ready for my next life. I have travelled the world and accomplished everything I ever wanted to do.” 

Toni is preceded in death by her parents, brother, Jimmy McCarthick and sister, Sonja McCarthick as well as niece, Laurie Kirkpatrick and nephew, Robin McCarthick.

 Toni will be greatly missed by her surviving siblings, Novice Boyd, Tishomingo, Charlene “Wart” Lane, Stillwater, Scotty (Ginny) McCarthick, Tishomingo & Vicky (Kevin) of Norman, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Also, surviving Toni is Antje Seidel, Plauen, Germany, whom Toni considered her daughter and finally, her wonderful friends and her “lab family’ from VVRH.

 A family remembrance will be held at a later date.
