TOM TURNER
SHAWNEE-Services for Thomas Lee "Tom" Turner, 71, of Shawnee, formerly of Ada,
are 11:00 a.m. Friday at the Criswell Funeral Home Chapel, Revs. David L. Daniel and Don Venable will officiate. Burial will follow at Rosedale Cemetery. The Chickasaw Honor Guard will conduct military honors at the cemetery.
Mr. Turner died Sunday, April 6, 2014 at the Veterans Hospital in Oklahoma City. He was born July 16, 1942 in Oklahoma City to Lee Washington and Amanda Louise Chambers Turner. He attended grade schools in Oklahoma and California and attended Lodi, California high school. He attended Seminole Junior College in Seminole, Oklahoma.
He married Cheryl Bechthold on April 7, 1962. Mr. Turner was employed in law enforcement with the Pontotoc County Sheriff's office and with the East Central University Police Department. Later, he was co-owner of Quilter's Heaven in Ada. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Ada and a member of the Good Sam's Club. Mr. Turner served in the U. S. Navy from 1959 until being honorable discharged in 1963.
Survivors include his wife, Cheryl Turner, of the home; a daughter, Tonya White and her husband Mark of Ada; a son, Ty Turner and his wife Carrie of Lansing, MI; two sisters, Connie Ost of Acampo, CA, and Donna Balch and her husband Gary of Edmond; three granddaughters; two step grandsons; two great grandchildren; 3 nephews; and a niece.
Bearers will be Mike Miller, Jeff Crosby, Dan Kaiser, Jerry Snow, John Roberts and Bert Miller. Honorary bearers will be Dr. Gerald Williamson, Jim Wilson, Darrell Nemecek, Jerry Christian and Harvey Phillips.
