ADA-Services for Thomas Dale Boatwright, 59, of Ada, are 11:00 a.m. Monday at the First Baptist Church of Ada. Dr. Pat Kilby and Rev. John Haynes will officiate. A private burial will precede the service.
Mr. Boatwright died Thursday, February 28, 2013. He was born July 6, 1953 in Ada, Oklahoma to Thomas Edgar and Merle Upchurch Boatwright. He graduated from Ada High School in 1971 and received a Bachelor of Science in Education Degree from East Central University on May 10, 1975. He did graduate studies at Central State University in Edmond in 1976 and also East Central University in 1977. In 1989, he graduated from the Oklahoma Bankers Association Lending School at Oklahoma State University in Stillwater.
He married Marcia Ratliff on August 3, 1974. Mr. Boatwright was the General Manager for Townsend Company in Ada from August 1977 until March 1984. He was the Co-owner and President of Rondale Corporation in Ada from April 1984 until December 1988. Mr. Boatwright was the Vice-President and Loan Office of Pontotoc County Bank in Roff from January 1989 until February 1991. From 1992 until 2000, Mr. Boatwright was the Sr. Vice President of the First National Bank of Ada and from January 20, 2000 until present, he served as the President of Landmark Bank. While at Landmark Bank, he was awarded the Top Referral Producer for 2007, 2008 and 2009, the Top Loan Producer in 2010, the Entrepreneurial Spirit Award in 2011 and the Bottom Line Award for being the top performing bank in the Landmark Company in 2012.
Mr. Boatwright served on the Valley View Regional Board of Directors from 2000 until the present and served as Chairman from January 2010 until January 2012. He was the Chair for the Physician Recruitment Committee, and a member of the Finance, Marketing, Management and Evaluation Committee. He was on the Board of Directors of the Valley View Foundation from 2004 until the present and was the Foundation Liaison to Valley View Regional Hospital Board.
Mr. Boatwright was an East Central Student Athlete Mentor, East Central Foundation Board Member, and a member and past president of the Kiwanis Club of Ada. He was the Cougar Football Association Booster Club President in 1998 and 1999.
Mr. Boatwright was an active member of the First Baptist Church, where he served on various committees and was the Director of the Scrivner Sunday School Class at the church.
Survivors include his wife, Marcia Boatwright, of the home; a daughter, Mindy Ahrend and her husband T. S. of Temple, Texas; a son, Brent Boatwright and his wife Amy of Ada; his mother, Mrs. Merle Boatwright of Ada; and four grandchildren, Bo and Baylee Boatwright, and Marlea and Stella Ahrend.
He was preceded in death by his father, Thomas Edgar Boatwright on October 11, 2012.
Bearers will be Carlton Tilley, Jimmy Sanders, Bob Cantrell, Charlie Golightly, David Martin, David Nimmo, Ken Johnson and Ronnie Townsend. Honorary bearers will be the Valley View Regional Hospital Board, and the Landmark Bank Board and Staff.
