Terry Young
Services for Terry Lynn Young, 62, of Tupelo are 10:00 a.m. Tuesday at the Tupelo First Baptist Church, Rev. Craig Cockran will officiate. Burial will follow at Centrahoma Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. Monday at Criswell Funeral Home.
Mr. Young passed away Thursday, February 15, 2018 at his home. He was born October 13, 1955 at Ada to B. D. and Leonia Pittman Young. He attended Lula and Tupelo grade schools and graduated from Tupelo High School.
He married Peggy Sue Miller November 4, 1975 at Tupelo. Mr. Young had worked as a construction worker for 23 years. He and his wife Peggy had owned a mini-mart. Terry was a certified backhoe operator for Coal County District #1 for 22 years. He was of the Baptist faith and had served as a Tupelo School Board member for five years and also the Centrahoma Cemetery Association. Terry loved camping, hunting, fishing and being with his grandchildren and attended their ball games. He was an avid OU Sooners football fan.
Survivors include his mother, Leona Young of Coalgate; his wife, Peggy, of the home; his three children, Jeremy Young and wife Dana of Ada, Tim Young and wife Cheryl of Lehigh and Amy Deaton and her husband Roy of Ada; five grandchildren, Shelbi Young, Preslee Young, Carson Deaton, Dax Young and Kinlee Deaton; two sisters, Alice Owens and husband J.B. of Holdenville and Tracy Bond and husband Dwayne of Centrahoma; and many nieces, nephews and other relatives and many friends.
He was preceded in death by his father; and a brother, Larry David Young.
Bearers will be Mark Blanchard, Jay Ward, Alvin Pebworth, Dan Pebworth, Rick Boo Ellis, Mike Anderson, Bob Anderson and Kenny Fortner. Honorary bearers will be Lynn Farrell, Brock Jones, Adrian Horton and all of the District #1 employees.
