TED SMITH
ADA-Services for Ted Richard Smith, 67, of Ada are 11:00 a.m. Saturday at the First United Methodist Church, Rev. Bob Langston will officiate. Burial will follow at Swan Hill Cemetery.
Mr. Smith died Sunday, January 26, 2014 at an Oklahoma City hospital. He was born October 25, 1946 in Hinton, Oklahoma to Cecil Herman Smith, Jr. and Maxine Bickell Smith. He attended Hinton schools and graduated from Hinton High School. He attended Southwestern State University in Weatherford and received degrees in Biology and Pharmacy.
Mr. Smith was a Registered Pharmacist in Duncan, later he owned a drug store in Hinton from 1975 until 1986. While living in Hinton, he served as President of the Kiwanis Club, Chamber of Commerce, and the Hinton's J.C.'s. He served as the chairman of the Hinton-Kiwanis Rodeo for several years. Mr. Smith was also a lifelong member of the Hinton First United Methodist Church. He later moved to Norman in 1990.
He married Alicia Crisp on May 19, 1991. He and his wife moved to Ada in January 1992 from Norman. He was the owner and operator of Doctors Park Pharmacy in Ada for 21 years. Ted took personal interest and friendship with all of his customers through the years.
Survivors include his wife, Alicia Smith, of the home; three sons, Ted Matthew and Emily Smith of Oklahoma City and their children, James Gabriel Smith and Margaret Lula Smith; John and Makensy Smith of Binger and their children, Layne Elizabeth Smith and Boone Michael Smith; and Conner Smith of Norman; and aunts, Lucille Bickell Milstein of Oklahoma City, and Barbara Kramer of North Carolina.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and a brother, Bickell L. Smith.
Bearers will be Mark Leu, Steve Peck, Richard Barger, Bob Stick, Russ Farley and George Mitchell. Honorary bearers will be Dr. Rick Coleman and David Crisp.
The family says those who wish may make memorials to the Frontier Drug Store Museum, 214 W. Oklahoma, Guthrie, OK 73044.
