Sue Fathree
Sue Kemp Fathree, a resident at Sterling House in Ada, passed away July 24 at age 94.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Dock Wade Fathree, whom she married in 1942, and her parents Joel Lemon Kemp and Annie Laurie Aldrich Kemp, who were from the Tishomingo area.
She is survived by a sister, Ann Lee Kemp Jessup, St. Joseph, Illinois; two children, Wade Fathree, Claremore, OK, and Susan Fathree Birney, Palm Springs, CA; four grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren, as well as a number of loving relatives and friends.
She began teaching freshman composition at East Central University in 1965 and also taught in the Communication Department there until 1995. Prior to joining the ECU faculty, she taught English and journalism in the Anchorage, Alaska, public schools.
In addition to teaching she published numerous magazine articles and enjoyed a number of RV trips with her husband before his passing in 1999.
No services will be held at the request of the deceased. Donations in Sue's memory may be given to the Billie (Fathree) Floyd Scholarship Fund at East Central University or the library at the Chickasaw Nation.
