ADA-Services for Sondra Lee Crabtree, 76, Ada, are 10:00 a.m. Wednesday at St. Luke's Episcopal Church, Father John D. Norvell will officiate. Burial will follow at Rosedale Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Tuesday at Criswell Funeral Home.
Sondra Lee Crabtree effortlessly shared her gift of mercy throughout her lifetime always focusing on the needs of others.
Her compassion and unconditional love enabled her to be a dedicated caretaker to those around her to the point of being overly concerned about everyone else and not herself even as a sudden illness caused her death on July 31, 2011.
Her generosity extended far beyond her extensive family, friends and employees, but it was widely known that her attention was most commonly dedicated to her children and grandchildren.
Mrs. Crabtree died Sunday, July 31, 2011 at her home. She was born June 24, 1935 in Ada, Oklahoma to Ed and Iva Mae Ratliff Goins. She graduated from Ada High School in 1953 and attended East Central University.
She married Lester Donald Johnson on June 18, 1955 in Ada. He preceded her in death on December 30, 1978. She later married Frank Ray Crabtree on February 4, 1983. He preceded her in death on June 9, 2009. She managed Merle Norman Cosmetics beginning in 1988, becoming the owner in 2000. Mrs. Crabtree was a member of St. Luke's Episcopal Church and a member of the choir. She was a supporter at her grandchildren's activities including but not limited to Byng basketball games, FFA functions and golf tournaments, Ada softball games and tennis tournaments, dance recitals, award banquets and fund raising events.
Survivors include her children, Drew Johnson and his wife Tammy and their children Ashton and Andrew; Stacy Whelchel and her husband James and their children Zack and Mikala, all of Ada; Jason Johnson and his wife Lisa and their son Jake, Pflugerville, TX; sister, Nancy Durr and her husband Cecil of Ada and their son Brad; brother, Veldo Goins and his wife Scottie of Oklahoma City and their children Kirk and Pam; a step-son, Tom Crabtree and his wife Darlene of Ada; step-son, Frank Crabtree, Jr. and his wife Becky of Ada; step-daughter, Agnes Lane and her husband Mike of Union Valley; step-daughter, Francis Crabtree of Union Valley; grandchildren, Blake Crabtree and wife Melissa, Eryn Hanson and husband Eric, Emily Fires, Adam, Luke, Sarah and Kate Crabtree, Clinton and Alexander Lane; and great grandchildren, Carter and Cole Crabtree, Sam and Matthew Brown, Jaycob Gray and August Hanson.
Bearers will be her grandsons, Blake Crabtree, Adam and Luke Crabtree, Clinton and Alexander Lane, Andrew Johnson, Zack Whelchel and Jake Johnson.
