SIMMIE SWANSON

ADA-Services for Simmie Pauline Swanson, 88, Ada, are 10:00 a.m. Saturday at the Morris Memorial Baptist Church, Revs. Mike Calhoun and Gary Jamar will officiate. Burial will follow at Rosedale Cemetery

Mrs. Swanson died Wednesday, December 16, 2009 at her home. She was born March 25, 1921 in the Pecan Grove Community south of Ada, Oklahoma to Homer and Sophronia Dew Cooper. She attended Latta schools and graduated from Latta High School.

She married Lee Swanson on April 25, 1940. Mrs. Swanson was a secretary for the family owned business, Swanson Heating and Air from 1947 until retiring in 1977. She was also a homemaker and a charter member and longtime active member of Morris Memorial Baptist Church for over 60 years.

Survivors include her husband, Lee Swanson, of the home; a daughter, Carolyn James, Ada; one brother, Elbern Cooper and wife Dean, Ada; three grandchildren, Danny James and wife Cathy, Ada, Terry James and wife Recellee, Alaska, and Tamra Abney and husband Ted, Ada; and nine great grandchildren, Dillon James, Caitlyn James, Madison Abney, Maebree Abney, Tucker Abney, Scout James, Rio Aguilar, Sierra Aguilar, and Zach Hooser.

She was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers, Elzie Cooper, Earl Cooper, and Elmer Cooper, and a sister, Jewel Mae Cooper.

Bearers will be Danny James, Terry James, Dillon James, Ted Abney, Wayne Cooper and Ken Cooper. Honorary bearers will be Scout James, Tucker Abney, Jim Jackson, Marvin Byers, Haskell Harrison, Phil Shivers, Bill Osborn, Elmer Gerth, Alvin Jamar, and Charles Bigham.
