Obituary

DR. SIDNEY PEPPER

ADA-Services for Dr. Sidney Allen Pepper, 83, Ada, are 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the Criswell Funeral Home Chapel, Rabbi Barry Cohen will officiate. Burial will follow at 3:30 p.m. Thursday at Temple B'Nai Israel Cemetery in Oklahoma City.

Dr. Pepper died Monday, April 12, 2010 at a local hospital. He was born June 25, 1926 at Pueblo, Colorado to Abe and Leah Weiner Pepper. He attended Pueblo schools and graduated from Centennial High School in Pueblo. He attended Northwestern University in Evanston, Illinois and received a degree in journalism. He received a Masters degree in Psychology and a PhD in Special Education from the University of Oklahoma.

He married Ann Levine in 1955 at Oklahoma City. He and his family moved to Ada in 1966 from Norman. Dr. Pepper was a Psychologist at the Guidance Center for the State of Oklahoma Health Department in Ada until his retirement. Dr. Pepper served on the Board of Directors for the Adult Day Care Center for many years and was a facilitator for the Alzheimer's Support Group. He was an avid gardener, bridge player and stained glass designer. Dr. Pepper served in the U. S. Navy during World War II.

Survivors include his wife, Ann Pepper, of the home; three daughters, Melissa Pepper, Austin, TX, Beth Pepper and her husband Tom Cooper, Norman, and Amy Pepper, Norman; two grandchildren, Harry Cooper and Audrey Cooper; sister-in-law, Barbara Greenberg and her husband Nathan; two nieces, Sandra Echt and Debbie Stiel; a nephew, Larry Shelton; great niece, Peggy Price; and great nephew, Murray Echt, and many more beloved nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and a brother, Murray Pepper.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Adult Day Care Center of Pontotoc County, 301 E. Kings Road, Ada, OK 74820; or to the Alzheimer's Association, Oklahoma Chapter, 6465 South Yale, Ste. 206, Tulsa, OK 74136-7804.

Bearers will be Alfred Katz, Henry Katz, Tom Cooper, John Wilson, Dick Rudnick, Hal Rudnick and Larry Shelton.
