SHIRLEY HINESLEY

ADA-Services for Shirley Donus Hinesley, 90, Ada, are 2:00 p.m. Wednesday at the St. Joseph Catholic Church, Father Rusty Hewes will officiate. Burial will follow at Rosedale Cemetery.

Mrs. Hinesley died peacefully Monday, April 27, 2009 at Midwest City Manor Care Nursing Facility. She was born October 4, 1918 in Stonewall, Oklahoma to Earnest A. and Agnes Young Austelle. She was a lifelong resident of this area. She attended Willard Elementary School and graduated from Horace Mann High School. She attended East Central State College and Blackwood-Davis Business College in Oklahoma City.

She married Harry Hinesley in 1953 in Norman, Oklahoma. Mrs. Hinesley was employed with the Department of Human Services in Ada, retiring after 19 years of service. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church; a member of the Golden Club and the Alter Society at the church.

Shirley traveled extensively and lived in Hawaii, Japan, and Baltimore during WW2 and heard many jazz greats while living there. She also collected Elvis memorabilia and listened to her favorite musicians; Nat King Cole, Frank Sinatra, and Tony Bennett and danced the nights away. She "did it her way" and never sacrificed her inherent dignity and grace.

Survivors include one son, Harry E. Hinesley, of the home; a daughter, Aggie L. Busby, Norman; and five grandchildren, Joshua Dunigan, Daniel Dunigan, Sarah Dunigan, Alex Busby, and Max Busby. She helped to care for her grandchildren and she will be greatly missed.
