SAMUEL ODELL MCDANIEL
DUNCAN, OK-Services for Samuel "Odell" McDaniel, 70, of Duncan, formerly of the Atwood area, will be held Tuesday, December 30, 2014 at 11:00 AM at Bethel Free Will Baptist Church in Allen, OK. Burial will follow at Allen Cemetery.
He was born November 10, 1926 to Andrew Jackson and Irene Bell (Burton) McDaniel in Atwood, Oklahoma. He passed away from this life on December 27, 2014 in Oklahoma City.
Odell grew up on a farm in Atwood. He married Mary Kathryn Jones of Allen on June 25, 1944. Their children are Billy Odell McDaniel of Conway, AR and Betty Lynn (McDaniel) Lowrance of Shawnee, OK. Kathryn preceded him in death on February 9, 1992. Odell enlisted in the Army in November 1944. He served as a paratrooper during World War II. He worked for Sun Oil Company in Wynnewood, OK, Conway, AR and Duncan, OK. Odell retired from Sun Oil Company after 30 plus years of service. Odell married Delilah Page of Duncan on July 10, 1992.
Odell was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Augusteen Clayton McDaniel, Thomas Bernigar McDaniel and Drexel Durell McDaniel.
Odell is survived by his wife, Delilah McDaniel of Duncan, OK; son, Bill McDaniel and wife Martha of Conway, AR; daughter, Betty Lynn Lowrance and husband Gary of Shawnee, OK. His grandchildren – Billy Jack McDaniel of Conway, AR, Nicole Aldridge and husband Josh of Vilonia, AR, Erin Nicklas and husband Eric of Shawnee, OK, Kelsey Rider and husband Travis of Seminole, OK and Will Lowrance and wife Heather of Shawnee, OK and nine great grandchildren.
Odell is survived by stepson, Dan Page of Garland, TX, stepson, Don Page and wife Beverly of Duncan, OK, stepdaughter, Peggy Allison and husband Tommy of Madill, OK and stepdaughter, Pam Hacker and husband Eddie of Arlington, TX; nine step grandchildren; and fourteen step great grandchildren.
Odell is survived by his sister-in-law, Hazel McDaniel of Shawnee, OK; brother, James Walter McDaniel and wife Leota of Atwood; sister, Ruby Irene Tucker and husband Juan of Atwood; and sister-in-law, Gwen McDaniel of Ft. Myers, FL.
Odell beamed when he talked about his grandchildren and loved their many phone calls, text messages and visits. Odell enjoyed growing vegetables in his garden, raising bantam chickens, water gardening, training bird dogs and quail hunting.
Pall bearers are Kenny Brewer, Jerry Higgins, Will Lowrance, Jim McDaniel, Kelly McDaniel, Danny McDougal, Eric Nicklas, Travis Rider, Doug Stinson and Andy Tucker.
