SAMMIE KAYE SMITH

ADA-Services for Sammie Kaye Smith, age 61, of Ada, OK will be held at 4:00 p.m. Monday at the Criswell Funeral Home Chapel, Mr. Byran Harwell, respected family friend will officiate the service. Burial will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery.

Sammie Kaye Smith passed away Thursday, April 17, 2008 in her home with her family by her side after a battle against Pancreatic Cancer.

Sammie was born January 8, 1947 in Ada, Oklahoma to Sam and Beaulah Myrl Click-Kennedy. Sammie attended Ada schools and graduated from Ada High School in 1965.

Sammie married David Lee Smith on January 21, 1966, and had three children, Stacey, Kellie and Dustin.

Sammie earned a Bachelor of Science degree from West Texas University located in Canyon, Texas. Sammie taught at American Alternative School and Crockett Middle School before returning to Ada to obtain a Master Degree in Education from East Central University.

Sammie taught students at Ada High School Algebra I, Algebra II and College Algebra until her retirement in the summer of 2007. Sammie taught for AHS eighteen years.

Survivors include Sammie's husband of 42 years, David Lee Smith, of the home, and children, Stacey Lynn Collins, Denver, Colorado, Kellie Lee Haning of Highlands Ranch, Colorado, and Dustin Wayne Smith of Muskogee, Oklahoma; Sammie's brother, Eual Wayne Kennedy of San Luis Obispo, California; and six grandchildren, Megan, Kirstie, Seth, Cailey, Cole and David.

Bearers requested by Sammie and David Smith, Gary Burden, Robert Ingram, Johnny Gallagher, Derek McNutt, Brian Hughes, and Chase Hughes.

The family says those who wish may make memorials to the Oncology Department at Valley View Regional Hospital, 430 N. Monte Vista, Ada, OK 74820.
