Graveside services for Fred Dewayne "Sam" Nelson, 83, of Ada, are 11:00 a.m. Friday, May 20, 2022 at Box-X Cemetery, Rev. Earl Hood will officiate.

Mr. Nelson passed away Monday, May 16, 2022 in Choctaw, OK.  He was born July 6, 1938, in Maud, OK to Warren and Eretta Graham Nelson.

Mr. Nelson attended Summers Chapel School in Eunice, NM.  He later served in the United States Army.  Mr. Nelson retired as a commercial truck driver.  He enjoyed drag and stock car racing, horse breeding, traveling and camping.

He is survived by his nephews, Roger and Farrell Shaw, both of Ada, and Charles Keith Nelson, Jr. and wife Melissa, Andrews, TX; niece, Denice Byrd and husband Charles, Ada; great nieces, Tamara Morrow, Michelle Nelson and Cammy Malouf; great nephews, Dewayne Sanders, TX, and Pete and Chase Byrd; and good friend, Vern Willis.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Dot Shaw; brother, Charles Keith Nelson; son, Andrew Smart; and niece, Nita Sanders.

Bearers will be Roger Shaw, Curt Wright, Keith Nelson, Charles Byrd and Dewayne Sanders.
