Ruthie Mitchell Ellis "Sugar"

Services for Ruthie Mitchell Ellis, 86, of Ada, are 10:00 a.m. Monday, February 14, 2022 at Criswell Funeral Home, Rev. Randy Wade will officiate. Burial will follow at Seeley Cemetery. A wake service will be held at Criswell Funeral Home Sunday, February 13, 2022 at 5:00 P.M. and will end 7:00 P.M.

Mrs. Ellis died Monday, February 7, 2022 at a local hospital.  She was born January 4, 1936 in Mill Creek to Joseph Mitchell and Alice Carhee. She attended high school at Carter Seminary and college at Haskell Indian Nations University in Lawrence, KS.

She married James Ellis in April 1958.  Mrs. Ellis retired in 1995 as a telephone operator in California and was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Ada.

Survivors include her three daughters, Kelly Hatcher and husband Robert, Ada, Micheline Tinsley, Ohio and Lisa Ellis, California; son, Richard Ellis, Ada; 17 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Lillian Underwood and Juanita Moody, Mill Creek; along with numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Alice Carhee and Joseph Mitchell; brother, Albert; sisters, Ruby, Catherine and Evelyn; grandson, Brandon; and great-grandson, Vincent.

Bearers will be Dexter Underwood, Richard Ellis, Larry Wisdom, Cody Standifer, Davean Hogue, Dashae Hogue, Justin McWilliams and Jessica Hogue. Honorary bearer will be Darrell Underwood.
