RUTH LANGSTON
ADA-Services for Ruth Timmons Langston, 89, Ada, are 11:00 a.m. Thursday at the Ada Church of the Nazarene, Revs. Jim Knight and Bob Langston will officiate. Burial will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery.
Mrs. Langston died Monday, February 14, 2011 at a local hospital. She was born April 22, 1921 at Scipio, Oklahoma to William Floyd and Halie Miranda Harris Carter. She attended McLish School.
She married W. A. Timmons on October 30, 1937. He preceded her in death on July 14, 1986. She later married O'Neal Langston on June 10, 1989. He preceded her in death on July 5, 1995. Mrs. Langston was a bookkeeper for W. A. Timmons Trucking and Excavating and she was a Luzier cosmetic consultant, later she was a salesperson for Katz Department Store, Sun and Fun Clothing, The Peach Tree and also she worked at the S & H Green Stamp store. She was a member of the Ada Church of the Nazarene where she served as secretary and treasurer and also taught Sunday school for several years. She taught piano lessons, was a china painter and a member of the Ada China Painters Guild and the Ada Artist Association. In the 1950's, she was a member of the Ada Community Concert Series.
Survivors include two daughters, Linelle Ellis, Ada, and Judy Hanson and her husband George, Ada; her grandchildren, Laurie Cook, Steven Ellis and wife Alice, Darrick Ellis and wife Renalla, Gina Allen and husband Ralph, and John David Hanson and wife Michelle; a step-grandson, Clarke Ellis and wife Debbie; her great grandchildren, Jennifer Walker and husband Jerry, Brandon Cook and wife Ericka, Ben Ellis and wife Shae, and Halie Ellis, William Ellis, Aaron Ellis and Matthew Ellis, Emily Allen and Sydney Allen, Brianna Hanson and Carter Hanson; great great grandchildren, Zoey Ellis, Jaxon and Jailin Walker, and Blayden and Cambrey Cook; three brothers, Louis Carter and wife Mary Ann, McDonough, GA, Jimmy Carter and wife Jan, Lake Isabella, CA, and Bill Carter and wife Sue, Moore, OK; her step children, Guy Langston and wife Vicky, Broken Arrow; Bob Langston and wife Janet, Ada; and Jim Langston and wife Mollie, Houston, TX; nine step grandchildren, Valerie Brettillo, Lisa Cushman, Lori Jetton, Mark Barnett, Jason Langston, Jennifer Duncan, Larry Harris, Loren Harris, and Leslie Martin; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, a son-in-law, Royle Ellis; and two sisters, Joan Carter and Edith King; a step-daughter, Ruth Mary Harris; and a step-son, Mitch Langston.
Bearers will be John David Hanson, Darrick Ellis, Steven Ellis, Clarke Ellis, Ralph Allen and Jeff Carter. Honorary bearers will be her great grandsons.
The family says those who wish may make memorials to the charity of their choice.
