Services for Ruby Jean Smith, 75, of Ada are 10:00 a.m. Friday at Union Valley Baptist Church, Rev. Randall Christy will officiate. A Committal service will be 2:30 p.m. Friday at Ft. Towson Cemetery.
Mrs. Smith passed away Tuesday, July 25, 2017 at a Shawnee hospital. She was born December 18, 1941 at Dumas, TX to Fred and Ruby Florence Capps Watson. She attended Eastern Oklahoma State College, and received a Bachelor's Degree from East Central University. She later received a Master's Degree from East Central.
She married Bobby Lee Smith December 19, 1959. She and her family moved to Ada about 1970 from Wilburton. Mrs. Smith was a high school Special Education Teacher, having taught at Panola, Lone Grove, Moss and Sasakwa. She retired in 2001 as a Special Education Director. Mrs. Smith was a member of Union Valley Baptist Church and had directed the Children's Choir for many years.
Survivors include her husband, Bobby, of the home; a daughter, Rhonda Taylor and her husband Frank of Ada; four grandchildren, Samuel Lee Villa-Smith, Sara Taylor, Amity Pegg and husband Tim and Emily Lee and husband Aaron; six great-grandchildren, Naomi Taylor, Alyce and Damien Lee, Isaiah Smith and Cadance Smith; and a brother, Bill Watson and his wife Joye of Dumas, TX.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Randall Lee Smith; three sisters; and a brother.
