ROYLE ELLIS

ADA-Services for Royle Ellis, 88, Ada, are 2:00 p.m. Tuesday at the Ada Church of the Nazarene, Revs. Bob Davis and Randall Miller will officiate. Burial will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery.

Mr. Ellis died Friday, January 2, 2009 at a local hospital. He was born November 21, 1920 at Sulphur, Oklahoma to Leroy and Sadie Holloway Ellis. He attended schools at Tishomingo and Murray 23. As a youth in the 1930's, he worked for the Civilian Conservation Corps and helped build Broken Bow State Park. He enlisted in the U. S. Navy in the 1940's during World War II. He played baseball for the Navy as a pitcher.

He came to Ada in 1946, after he served in the U. S. Navy to work for the Speck Young Motor Company. He later purchased the business and transitioned to Ellis Sinclair and Ellis Conoco Service. He served Ada motorists for 45 years.

He married Linelle Timmons Dew on March 22, 1968. Mr. Ellis was a member of the Ada Church of the Nazarene where he served on several church boards and committees and was an usher for many years. He was also a former member of the Gideon's International.

Survivors include his wife, Linelle Ellis, of the home; his children, Jo Ann Choate, Ada, Rex Ellis, Marlow, Clarke Ellis and wife Debbie, Ada, Laurie Dew Cook, Perry, OK, Steven Ellis and wife Alice, Tulsa, and Darrick Ellis and wife Renalla, Shawnee; fourteen grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; and a brother, Bobby Lee Ellis and wife Sher, Horseshoe Bay, TX.

Bearers will be Steven Ellis, John David Hanson, Larry Cole, Jeremy Danielson, Jerry Walker, and Shane Johnson. Honorary bearers will be Bob Bonar, George Hanson, Wayne King and Royle's grandsons.
