Roy Samis

Services for Roy Randle Samis, 73, of Ada are 12:00 p.m. noon Saturday at the Bertram Bobb Memorial Chapel at Tushkahoma. Burial will follow at the Choctaw Nation Veterans Cemetery. The Choctaw Honor Guard will conduct military honors at the cemetery.

Mr. Samis passed away Monday, November 11, 2019 at the Chickasaw Nation Medical Center in Ada. He was born March 20, 1946 at DeQueen, AR to Henry Frank and Mary Jean Wilson Samis. He received his GED and also attended Murray State College in Tishomingo. He moved to the Ada area 14 years ago from Phoenix, AZ.

He married Jannie Alberson. She preceded him in death November 12, 2013. Mr. Samis was a diesel mechanic and a non-denominational Christian. He served in the U. S. Army during the Vietnam War. Roy enjoyed leatherwork, spending time with his family, fishing, camping, reading the bible and listening to Choctaw hymns. He also enjoyed watching his grandsons play stickball.

Survivors include two daughters, Wynona Samis of Clayton and Shonda Elrod of Panama City, FL; his siblings, Buddy Samis, Sherman, TX, Rose Samis, Tishomingo, Dewey Samis, Tishomingo, Raynell Serna, Ada and Pauletta Samis, Ardmore; and three grandchildren, Jonathan Blackwolf and Colton Cusher of Clayton and Miccah Hicks, of Ada.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; and five siblings.

Bearers will be Josh Samis, Colton Cusher, James Serna, Waylon Deleon, Thunder Hicks and Charles Hicks. Honorary bearer will be Miccah Hicks.
