SUE BURRIS
CENTRAHOMA-Services for Rosetta Sue Burris, 73, of Centrahoma, are 1:00 p.m. Friday at the Criswell Funeral Home Chapel, Rev. Don Jacob will officiate. Burial will follow at Round Lake Cumberland Presbyterian Cemetery near Centrahoma. A Celebration of Life Service will be 7:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Thursday at Criswell Funeral Home.
Ms. Burris, a member of the Chickasaw tribe, died Tuesday, January 28, 2014 at the Chickasaw Nation Medical Center. She was born July 26, 1940 in Talihina, Oklahoma to Rev. Lee Burris and Verdie Wesley Burris. She attended Centrahoma grade schools and graduated from Centrahoma High School.
Ms. Burris was a homemaker and a member of the St. York Indian Baptist Church in Marlow, OK. She was a seamstress and a gospel singer.
Survivors include her children, Tommy Amos and wife Amy of Duncan, Deloris Jefferson and husband Don of Sulphur, and Anthony Amos of Duncan; a companion, Jerry Chitto, of the home; a sister, Ola Mae Burris of Coalgate; two half-brothers, Noah Burris and wife Karen of Coalgate and David Burris and wife Shirley of Coalgate; five half-sisters, Vickie McClure of Tupelo, Doris Samuel and husband Curtis of Oktaha, Faye Ratcliff of Coalgate, Gwen Burris of Latta, and Ruth McDonald of Ada; her seven grandchildren, Sara Willie and Jimpsey Factor, Ada, Katrina Amos, Broken Bow, Brad Jefferson, Sulphur, Terrel Jefferson, Ada, Tim Jefferson, Sulphur, Toby Amos and Logan Amos, both of Duncan; her great grandchildren, Kiesha Amos, Broken Bow, Elijah Gibson, Ada, Mia Rose Jefferson and Gracie Mae Jefferson, both of Sioux City, IA, and Peyton "Beans" West of Ada; a great great grandson, Brycen Amos of Broken Bow; as well as a host of nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Leona Murphy; half-brother, Donnie Burris; an infant brother, Paul Burris; infant sister, Helen Burris; and a grandson, Damon Jefferson.
Bearers will be Brad Jefferson, Tommy Amos, Toby Amos, Chad Allen Ratcliff, Jimpsey Factor and Elijah Gibson. Honorary bearers will be Terrel Jefferson and Timothy Jefferson.
