Roland Kenneth Lancaster
July 31, 1952 — January 9, 2020
Roland Lancaster of Ada, Oklahoma passed away, surrounded by family, on Jan. 9 following a battle with cancer.
Friends and family are invited to celebrate his life at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Trinity Baptist Church, 123 N. Mississippi Ave., Ada, Oklahoma. Visitation will the family will be from 5-7 p.m. Monday at Criswell Funeral Home, 815 Arlington St., Ada, Oklahoma.
Survivors include his beloved wife of 42 years, Linda Lancaster; his sons Steve and Montana Lancaster; his daughter Stacy Tornio; his five grandchildren; and his three sisters, Nita, Frieda, and Susie.
Roland Lancaster was born in Ada, Oklahoma and served in the National Guards. He grew up working in the family business, Lancaster Plumbing. He later formed his own business, Roland Lancaster Plumbing. He ran it for 45 years, and his son still runs it today.
Roland was a caring and loving husband, father, and grandfather. He was a great mentor, teaching life and technical skills to both his kids and grandkids. Over the years, he's enjoyed hunting, building, and farming his land. He also enjoyed many adventures with Linda over the years, traveling to Alaska, Canada, and regular trips to Colorado to hunt elk. In general, Roland was a wonderful Jack-of-all-trades man with skills as a carpenter, auto mechanic, electrician, and more.
Roland was a strong, hard-working, and honest business owner. He always treated people fairly and respectfully. His work ethic and willingness to always help will definitely be missed by his customers, friends, and family.
Donations to honor Roland can be made to Mike Rowe Foundation: Work Ethic Scholarship Program. Mike Rowe of Dirty Jobs writes, "We work smart and hard," which is something Roland lived in his own life. Roland strongly believed in hard work and supporting the trades, and his family knows he would want others to do this as well.
SONG LYRICS TO SHARE
When I die and they lay me to rest
Gonna go to the place that's the best
When I lay me down to die
Goin' up to the spirit in the sky
Goin' up to the spirit in the sky
That's where I'm gonna go when I die
When I die and they lay me to rest
Gonna go to the place that's the best
